American literature it seems to be the North and South Americas way of writing, speaking, or presenting the English language. American literature would have too be made by someone American. It would also have to be proven to be American literature by higher ups.
Cameron, in defining, be assertive in your thoughts. Eliminate words such as "seems;" it belittles your argument. Incorporating both North and South American into your definition is admirable when you think of American literature. I wonder, however, why they must write, speak, or present in English in order for it to be American. I wouldn't think all the people in North and South America do speak English. How do we prove that a piece is considered American literature? What are the characteristics? Who are these "higher ups?"
